The essential mineral

Magnesium is an incredibly important mineral that we need to function and feel good. Magnesium is involved in over 300 enzymatic processes in the body and contributes to a normal nervous system, normal muscle function, acts against fatigue and exhaustion and supports our psychological function.

Magnesium taurate

Magnesium+ When Stressed contains magnesium in the form of magnesium taurate. Magnesium taurate is an organic form of magnesium with high bioavailability. This means that it is easier for the body to absorb and use the mineral. Magnesium taurate consists of magnesium bound to the amino acid taurine, which is found naturally in animal products such as meat, fish and dairy products, but which the body can also create from two other amino acids - methionine and cysteine.

Taurine has several functions in the body, including a calming effect on the nervous system, which makes it a good match with magnesium for stress.

Magnesium for stress

As mentioned, magnesium has an incredibly many important functions in the body and what makes the mineral important during stress is partly its calming effect on the nervous system but also its relaxing effect on tense muscles. Stress is also a factor in high consumption of the mineral, which means that people who live with high and prolonged stress tend to have low levels of magnesium.

Studies show that low levels of magnesium appear to increase the release of the stress hormones cortisol and adrenaline. This creates a vicious cycle where stress lowers magnesium levels in the body and low levels of magnesium increase stress.

Studies confirm that magnesium supplementation, specifically magnesium acetyltaurate, which is a form of magnesium taurate, has been particularly effective in reducing stress-related symptoms such as physical and mental exhaustion, fatigue, irritability, and inner anxiety.

Vitamin B6

Magnesium+ When Stressed contains vitamin B6 in its active form, pyridoxal-5-phosphate (P-5-P). Since the vitamin is already in its active form, i.e. the form that the body uses, no further conversion is needed for it to be utilized. This makes it easier for the body to take advantage of its benefits. Magnesium and vitamin B6 also work together in several ways, including to support the normal function of the nervous system.

Fortified with rose root and L-theanine

Magnesium+ When Stressed is also fortified with the adaptogen Rhodiola rosea and the amino acid L-theanine. Rhodiola rosea is one of the most studied adaptogenic herbs and has shown positive effects on physical exhaustion and stress. Adaptogens support and balance the body during stress and imbalances, which can cause a variety of ailments.

L-theanine is an amino acid found in green tea, among other things. It is often added to supplements specifically for stress and relaxation.

Magnesium in the diet

We get magnesium through our diet, but it is not always enough. Magnesium is found in the highest amounts in dark green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds, dairy products, whole grains, meat and fish. If you eat a very one-sided or nutrient-poor diet, there is a good chance that you will not get the amount of magnesium that is optimal for you to feel good. Other factors that can affect the body's magnesium levels are, as previously mentioned, stress, but also high alcohol intake, a lot of hard exercise, various medications and heavy sweating.
