Lack of a good beauty routine?

You've probably heard before that beauty comes from within, but think about how true it is. If you take care of your body on the inside, it will show on the outside. When you take care of yourself, both mentally and physically, you will both look better and have a beautiful radiance! Because it certainly shows on a person if they care about their own health, right? Beautiful shiny hair, smooth skin with a nice glow or strong healthy nails are not achieved by just applying creams, oils, shampoos and the like from the outside. It requires, first and foremost, that you nourish these parts of the body from the inside.

Hair nutrition

For healthy, thick and shiny hair, specific nutrients are needed, sounds logical? When the body is low on vitamins and minerals, the most important functions, such as our organs, are prioritized. Hair, skin and even nails can therefore be negatively affected if the body lacks nutrients that strengthen these areas. Hair especially needs biotin, zinc, silicon, sulfur (MSM), selenium and amino acids to grow and feel good. Since hair is located in the skin, it is also important to take care of your skin in order to have beautiful, healthy hair.

Nourishment for the skin

The skin is the body's largest organ and acts as your outermost barrier to the outside world. The skin is an important protection against viruses, bacteria and the sun's rays. The skin helps you maintain the right body temperature and stores both fluid and fat, which prevents the body from drying out. When we talk about skin nutrition, do you think of the face specifically? Yes, it is often the face that we are talking about when we talk about skin care. The skin is complex and easily becomes unbalanced at times. In autumn and winter, many people experience that the skin becomes dry, rough and dull compared to summertime when the skin feels supple, has a glow and maybe even a nice tan. But giving the skin the right nutrition from the inside obviously affects the skin of the whole body, not just the face.

Some of the most important nutrients for the skin are vitamin A, B vitamins, vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin E, silicon, zinc, omega-3, omega-6 (GLA) and amino acids. Since we are all different, we also have slightly different needs depending on genetics, environment, lifestyle, etc. Maybe you have completely normal skin without any problems and therefore you don't need to focus extra on it. Or maybe you have very dry or very oily skin and need help balancing it with the right nutrition but of course also with the right skin care in the form of creams, serums and oils adapted to your specific needs. AND don't forget to drink plenty of water! The skin is dependent on moisture and without fluid you easily become dry and wrinkled. Water, water, water!

Fruits, vegetables, berries, whole grains, root vegetables and legumes are examples of foods that strengthen hair, skin and nails.

Nourishment for nails

The nutrients we talked about above for hair and skin also strengthen nails. This is why many supplements target all three parts, because they need roughly the same type of nutrition. Nails are in a way the least complicated as they primarily need minerals such as zinc, silicon, sulfur and selenium.

Beauty from the inside out

Now that we have gone through the nutrients that benefit hair, skin and nails, what should you eat? Fatty fish, nuts and seeds, avocados, cold-pressed oils such as flaxseed oil or evening primrose oil, fruit, vegetables, berries, whole grains, root vegetables and legumes are examples of foods that strengthen hair, skin and nails (and provide many other health benefits as well). If you feel that you need an extra boost for your hair, skin and nails, there are many customized nutritional supplements that strengthen these areas with a quick effect. However, food and nutritional supplements should be combined with good products for the outside. Find products that suit your hair, skin and nails. One tip is to get help from your hairdresser to find good hair products that suit your hair and to consult with a skin therapist about what type of skin care products your skin feels good with. You can easily take care of your nails yourself with a nice nail oil and, if necessary, strengthening food and/or nutritional supplements, but it can also be good to visit a nail salon every now and then for an extra boost.
