ME-NO - Information
Red cow
Red clover is a traditional medicinal plant that grows wild in meadows all over Sweden and is well known for its ability to help women in menopause. Red clover contains substances called phytoestrogens, they are substances similar to our own estrogen and help maintain a calm and comfortable menopause. Red clover helps women manage the symptoms associated with menopause, such as hot flashes, sweating, restlessness and irritability.
Yam root with diosgenin has been shown to relieve menopausal symptoms
Yam root (Dioscorea villosa) has been shown to relieve menopausal symptoms. Yam root has a long and well-documented history as a medicinal plant among South American Indians. The plant's roots and tubers were found to contain an interesting substance called diosgenin. During the 1940s, the plant caught the interest of scientists and today it has been claimed that yam root contributes to a calm and comfortable menopause with a focus on relieving restlessness and irritation.
Balances the hormones
Diosgenin contains precursors to what the researchers call the "mother hormone" DHEA. The fact that the term "mother hormone" is used is because DHEA can be converted into several hormones such as estrogen, testosterone, progesterone and cortisol. Yam root is one of the plants known to naturally contain the highest concentration of phytonutrients – a substance that is needed for phytoestrogens to work optimally.
Borage oil – rich in the fatty acid GLA
Borage contains naturally high levels of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). Normally, people talk about evening primrose oil and black currant oil as good sources of GLA, but the fact is that borage contains as much as 20% GLA, which is about twice as much as other sources of GLA. It is this high GLA content that makes borage so interesting for research focusing on GLA.
Support of vitamin B6
ME-NO is supplemented with vitamin B6, which helps regulate hormonal activity. B6 also contributes to maintaining normal psychological function, normal energy turnover and to reducing fatigue and exhaustion.
