Elixir NAD+ consists of nicotinamide riboside (NR) which is a form of niacin, i.e. vitamin B3. NR helps increase levels of NAD+ in the body. An exclusive formula supplemented with pyrroloquinoline quinone (PQQ), Q10 and vitamin B12.
What is NAD+?
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in all living cells and plays a crucial role in many biological processes. NAD+ is a reactive molecule that participates in several biochemical processes including energy production, DNA repair and mitochondrial function. Due to its reactivity, NAD+ is difficult to add to dietary supplements. Nicotinamide riboside (NR), on the other hand, is a more stable molecule that effectively contributes to increased NAD+ levels in the body. NR is a form of niacin, i.e. a form of vitamin B3.
PQQ – An exciting molecule!
PQQ (pyrroloquinoline quinone) is a water-soluble, vitamin-like compound that was first discovered in bacteria. It functions as a redox coenzyme, meaning it can participate in redox reactions by accepting and donating electrons, which is important for protecting the body's cells from damage. The body cannot manufacture PQQ, but it is found naturally in certain foods, such as kiwi, green peppers, fermented soy products, and green tea.
Coenzyme Q10
Q10, also known as coenzyme Q10 or ubiquinone, is found in all cells of the body. The highest concentration is found in the heart, brain and muscles, but the intestinal mucosa, kidneys and liver also naturally have a higher content of Q10. The body has the ability to produce Q10 itself, but this ability decreases with age. Q10 participates in the cells' energy production and also functions as an antioxidant.
Vitamin B12
Vitamin B12, also known as cobalamin, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays several critical roles in the body's functions, especially in energy production and cellular health. B12 is involved in energy metabolism but also in the process of cell division and DNA synthesis.
Energy production and cell health
NAD+ is best known for its role in the energy production of cells and although the body can produce NAD+ on its own, production decreases with age, resulting in reduced NAD+ levels. Supporting the body's own production can therefore be important. Supplementing with NR effectively increases NAD+ levels, which is crucial for the body's ATP production (energy production) and contributes to reduced fatigue.
Vitamin B12 is needed for the cell division process to function, which is a fundamental mechanism for growth, development and repair.
